The women’s restroom at Core 24 GVL are a vibe that combine street culture with art. The Pump House on West Avenue in Kannapolis, NC is designed as a beautiful place to rest, relax and have fun. Steamboat Springs – Steamboat Springs, CO
Having a standalone public restroom downtown has been on the city’s wish list for several years. Now that dream is a reality. The public restroom in downtown Steamboat Springs utilized unique design elements for visual appeal. The two-pitch roof is butterfly-style, and the façade features multiple material types, steel cladding, board form concrete walls and glass blocks. The facility is heated year round and is open daily, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The Fed Community –Clarkston, MI
The Fed Community wanted to go all out in an unexpected space and make its restrooms a conversation piece. Mixing unexpected colors, patterns and texture, the restrooms are bright and airy. They also feature affirmations to make patrons feel good. The space is a fun surprise for whomever opens the door.
Two Cities Pizza – Cincinnati, OH
Walking into Two Cities Pizza Company is nothing short of an experience. Two of America’s most iconic cities, New York and Chicago, live loudly in the decor and atmosphere of this concept restaurant. Taxis surround the building, steel girders line the ceiling, Wrigley Field is paid tribute to with an ivy wall and 400-foot marker, but the most talked about element of this brand aside from the pizza itself, is the New York City subway station. The restroom is fully outfitted with a subway platform, train car, station stops playing over the speaker, authentic subway handles above the sinks, and even graffiti on the walls. A properly taken selfie sent to a friend in New York is good enough to convince them you made a surprise visit to the Big Apple. Just make sure you get off at the right stop before your pizza gets cold.
William S. Craycraft Park – Mission Viejo, CA
This custom restroom features a custom tiled front alcove with exterior drinking fountains and water bottle filler. This large well-ventilated, multiple-occupant restroom design includes: 10 toilets, two urinals, and six sinks that will accommodate up-to 540 users per hour. To match the local architecture and neighborhood setting, the exterior walls were upgraded to create a high-end look with a mixture of finishes, including tile, brick, stained wood lap siding, and PRM cement-like stucco wainscot. The LED barn-style outdoor wall lights complemented the exterior finishes to give this restroom a modern, classy look.
The 10 finalists were selected based on cleanliness, visual appeal, innovation, functionality and unique design elements. The winner will be honored with a place in the America’s Best Restroom Hall of Fame and receive a Cintas UltraClean® restroom cleaning service and $2,500 in facility services or restroom cleaning from Cintas.
Last year, the America’s Best Restroom award went to Bancroft Park in Colorado Springs, CO for its self-cleaning restrooms. The facility holds three restrooms, including an ADA-compliant option, and each comes with green, red and yellow lights to show availability.

Des murs en mosaïque d’un bleu apaisant qui assure une transition en douceur entre l’horizon et le ciel, jusqu’aux éléments sombres et spectaculaires en hauteur qui représentent le vaste ciel nocturne de la toundra, aucun détail n’est omis. Chaque bloc de lavage des mains comprend un robinet, un distributeur de savon et un sèche-mains sans contact. L’évier en forme d’auge évite les éclaboussures d’eau sur le sol et des crochets sur le pourtour du comptoir permettent d’accrocher un sac à main, un sac à dos ou un manteau. Cintas’ nationwide contest highlights businesses that have invested in developing and maintaining exceptional washrooms. “These five facilities demonstrate a commitment to prioritizing hygiene and customer service – especially as cleanliness is so important right now – combined with creativity and whimsy not usually seen in washrooms,” said Candice Raynsford, Marketing Manager, Cintas Canada.

Toronto Zoo – Toronto, ON
Designed with the Toronto Zoo’s mission of connecting people, animals and conservation science to fight extinction in mind, the new washrooms in the Zoo’s Tundra Trek feature iconic Canadian species. The design draws on inspiration from our natural world for its fresh yet familiar atmosphere. From the cool blue mosaic walls that represent the calm transition of horizon to sky, to the dark and dramatic overhead features that represent the vast night sky across the tundra, no detail is too small. Each handwashing unit features a hands-free faucet, soap dispenser and hand dryer. The trough-style sink eliminates water splashing on the floor and includes hooks on the outside of the counter to hang a purse, backpack or coat. This state-of-the-art facility modernizes the Toronto Zoo’s guest experience in a visually stunning way.
Surrey Park – Surrey, BC
The intent for the park washroom was to create a playful, durable, safe facility that works well within the City of Surrey’s park contexts. The washroom was designed to be universally accessible, hands-free with no-touch fixtures and configured for solar power. It also features public art panels on all four sides of the structure. The design employs a distinct form, strong colours and unique use of materials.
Sweet Market Esso Station – Red Deer, AB
The washrooms at Sweet Market Esso boast decorative high-end tiles and five-star finishes, giving the restrooms a classy feel, mimicking a fancy hotel suite in Italy rather than a convenience store restroom. These washrooms are always a topic of customer conversation in the store where selfies take center stage. The constant comments regarding the awe of it all – plus the extreme cleanliness – are great reminders of the sheer elegance and grandeur these restrooms provide for the customer.
The ROOFTOP – Calgary, AB
The ROOFTOP restaurant is a unique “weather managed” outdoor patio experience located in downtown Calgary. The adjacent indoor washrooms were designed to be inclusive, engaging and distinctively unique. As you enter “The Alley” you are greeted by a life-sized bobblehead re-imagined as your personal concierge. Walk in to immerse yourself in the funky and fun graffiti wallpaper sections taken largely from the “John Lennon Peace Wall” originally created in Prague. Elements of surprise abound throughout these unusual washrooms, including the porta-potty door in the “Mostly Men” area and hidden selfie walls.

Designed by gh3, the washrooms are at the core of the single-level pavilion surrounded by highly reflective glass. An integrated approach to environmental sustainability is evident in the choice of materials: wood, concrete and glass were selected for their durability, permanence and timelessness. The washroom features hands-free elements to reduce germs and a stainless-steel trough-style sink that prevents water splashing on the floor. The sleek washroom stands as a striking improvement on the typical concrete options, and a sign of outstanding design to come.

The initiative celebrates businesses that develop and maintain exceptional restroom facilities. Anyone can submit their favorite restroom now through June 18th at www.bestrestroom.com.
“Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the public’s expectations for clean, well-maintained public restrooms are higher than ever,” said Sean Mulcahey, Marketing Manager, Cintas. “Being named an America’s Best Restroom contest finalist demonstrates your business’ commitment to providing customers with a safe and clean restroom experience. Hygiene is king and we hope the public can help us identify facilities that are taking safety, cleanliness and hygiene to another level.”
Nominees for the contest will be judged on five criteria: cleanliness, visual appeal, innovation, functionality and unique design elements. Cintas will select 10 finalists and in July, the public will have the opportunity to vote for the 2021 grand prize winner. The restroom that receives the most votes will win a Cintas UltraClean® restroom cleaning service and $2,500 in facility services or restroom cleaning from Cintas while also being recognized as a first-rate public restroom.
Last year’s winner, Colorado’s Bancroft Park was crowned America’s Best Restroom for its high-tech self-cleaning restrooms with automatic soap, water, and toilet paper dispensers.

Cintas Names Bancroft Park’s Self-Cleaning Restrooms America’s Best Restroom®
CINCINNATI — November 19, 2020 — Cintas Corporation (NASDAQ: CTAS), is proud to name the TikTok-famous restroom at Bancroft Park in Colorado Springs, CO the winner of the 2020 America’s Best Restroom® contest. As this year’s winner, the City of Colorado Springs will get to properly crown their golden thrones with prizes from Cintas. This includes a Cintas UltraClean® restroom cleaning service and $2,500 in Cintas products and services for restroom cleaning or facility management to keep their restrooms Ready for the Workday®, along with a coveted spot in the America’s Best Restroom Hall of Fame.
The self-cleaning restroom in Bancroft Park is a welcome amenity for residents and visitors who are seeking a clean park facility. It holds three restrooms, including an ADA-compliant option, and each comes with green, red and yellow lights to show availability. Soap, water, toilet paper and a dryer are all activated with the wave of a hand. The restrooms are set up to self-clean after every 30 uses, and a park maintenance supervisor is alerted via an app when toilet paper or other supplies are running low. The exterior is wrapped with historic photos and facts about the historic Old Colorado City neighborhood where it’s located.

The public voted the Westview RV Park the best public washroom in the country, earning it the top prize of a Cintas UltraClean™ restroom cleaning service and $2,500 in Cintas facility services to keep its washrooms Ready for the Workday®. The washrooms will also be honoured with a place in the Canada’s Best Restroom® Hall of Fame
“We’re blown away by the outpouring of votes to help us earn the title of Canada’s Best Restroom,” said Carol Crick, co-owner and operator, Westview RV Park. “We invested a lot of time into creating clean and comfortable washrooms for our customers. Our luxurious facilities are one of the main reasons travelers choose to stay at our campground.”
The washrooms at the Westview RV Park recently underwent a major makeover. Westview wanted to give its customers the five-star treatment and make them feel comfortable while staying at the park. The epoxy floors are textured for less slips and rounded corners were created for ease of cleaning.
