Public Voting is Now Underway in the 6th Annual Contest |
Mississauga, ON – Each year, Cintas recognizes businesses that understand that there is a direct correlation between how a public restroom is cleaned, maintained and well-stocked and the impact this has on customer service and repeat business. “We received a wide variety of nominations this year, making our decision difficult.” said Leslie Molin, Cintas Canada’s Senior Marketing Manager. “It is exciting to see more and more businesses getting behind the message we strive to convey.” The Cintas survey editors have reviewed the nominations, and narrowed it down to the Final Five. Now it’s time for the public to decide which will be crowned “Canada’s Best Restroom.” |
The finalists are determined based on five criteria, including cleanliness, visual appeal, innovation, functionality and unique design elements. The winner of the Cintas Canada’s Best Restroom Contest will be revealed during a nationally publicized media event this fall, where the winner will be awarded $2,500 in Cintas facility services. |
Voting for this year’s contest begins today! The public is invited to cast an online ballot for their favourite washroom at www.bestrestroom.com/ca through October 9th as the five finalists compete to secure the most votes and take the throne. |
2015 Finalists for Cintas Canada’s Best Restroom Contest: |
BNA Brewing Company & Eatery Kelowna, British Columbia |
The washroom at this brewery and restaurant transports visitors back in time. Located inside a historic building that was once home to The British North American Tobacco Company, the washroom maintains its heritage but has a modern, classy, and unforgettable look. The washroom was the vision of the restaurant owner herself, with no detail overlooked. As you enter the women’s washroom, you feel like you’ve stepped backstage at the theater, with bulb lights around the mirrors and beautiful exposed brick. One of the standout features includes faucets that come directly out of the mirrors. The upstairs unisex washroom maintains the same retro feel but builds off the playful atmosphere of the pub. Features include entrances on both sides and a three-faucet trough-style sink. |
Renaissance Hotel Edmonton, Alberta |
Conveniently located in the Edmonton International Airport, this polished hotel washroom is a luxurious oasis for weary travelers. Black tiled walls, marble sinks and full-length mirrors are “sealed with a kiss” as Ruby Red lips are the statement throughout the washroom from wall art, to a full-size couch. Plush red stools, and red countertops provide a private space for visitors to freshen up with personal vanity mirrors. This one-of-a-kind washroom has the in-style traveler in mind, and will leave you feeling refreshed and pampered. |
Tommyfield Gastro Pub Calgary, Alberta |
This UK-inspired pub is located in the heart of South Calgary’s new urban district, and a trip to the loo takes visitors “across the pond” in seconds. Each private stall is contained in one of the iconic red telephone booths, with photos of old England lining the walls. Whether it be enjoying a fulfilling dinner downstairs or catching the game upstairs, a trip to the washrooms truly tops off this double-decker experience. |
Bank and Baron Pub Calgary, Alberta |
Built in 1931, this reclaimed Bank of Nova Scotia is more than a pub; it is an important piece of Alberta’s history. Featuring original details such as the ceiling, mouldings and many of the light fixtures complemented by modern touches, the Bank and Baron boasts unique art deco architecture. Guests find a fanciful experience in the washroom, with dazzling gold-trimmed mirrors against shining silver leaf wallpaper. Dark wooded stalls and marbled countertops are the perfect accent to top off this stylish trip to the restroom. |
1000 Islands Duty Free Lansdowne, Ontario |
Travellers leaving Canada and heading back to the United States often make this washroom their last stop before crossing the border. This Duty Free Shop gives customers a “swell farewell” with their clean and inviting restroom, that’s incredibly well designed. The store boasts great deals on merchandise and a friendly spot for families to freshen up on their way home. It’s even advertised on their website.
Last year’s champion was the Shaw Club Hotel and Spa in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. Its elegant style and clear-to-clouded glass door technology raised the bar of what it means to be Canada’s Best Restroom. Past winners are all in the Best Restroom Hall of Fame, which is available for viewing at www.bestrestroom.com/canada. While on the website, visitors can determine their own restroom style by taking a short personality quiz at www.bestrestroom.com/canada/quiz. |
